So… I thought more people had noticed this but apparently not. Prompting me to make this post:
James has a chunk missing out of his ear—
See it?
No? Well fuck you, that means I have to upload an image…
damnit, hold on [ audible typing noises coupled with swearing and assorted cat noises ]
OKAY
If you don’t see it now then you have issues—
Regardless: I’m not entirely sure why it’s there but apparently its inclusion on the James model was deliberate. Logically to save time and space they’d just put sunglasses on Fox’s talking model right? That would mean that if his ear is supposed to just natrually be that way, Fox would have it too— right?
Oh… he doesn’t…
So… next logical question.. did the N64 version have it?
The blurry-as-fuck image makes it hard to see but I do believe it actually does—
so what does this mean?
Probably fucking nothing at all but like I said: I thought more people knew about it. SF-O chat proved me wrong 3 minutes ago.
Enjoy your headcanons.
I did this a while back. Yes, it looks like James got his ear chipped after he created Star Fox, probably during a missions in his mercenary days.
It’s curious how Nintendo have forgotten to add the detail in later games tho, they probably just took Fox’s model, added a pair of shades and called it a day. BUT, they added it back in his Smash Bros. for 3DS trophy, which is a nice detail.
